I started a monthly cartography club with my friends and colleagues. Each month, we select a theme, design maps around the theme, and have a collective review session. This is a map I created on our “Retro” theme using ArcGIS Pro, Procreate, and Adobe Illustrator. I was inspired by air travel maps from the 1950s and 60s as well as NASA JPL’s Visions of the Future series. I based my map off of Ron Blakely’s Late Triassic map, which I brought into ArcGIS Pro and georeferenced in a Mollweide projection map. I digitized the continents into polygon feature class. The styling of the continents was inspired by John Nelson’s storybook cartography tutorial.
